  As part of our te reo learning at school with the beautiful Miss Tito, we had to create a DLO about our school karakia. We were making so that the seniors could teach the rest of the school by putting our DLOs on PENN. This is what Gloria and I created. Hope you 3NJOY!

What I Love!!!

 
   Every practice we get more confident and stronger. Kapa haka is one of my favourite things to do at school. On Mondays with Whaea Sophie and Whaea Raewyn and on Fridays with Miss Tito. I started loving it when I was 10.
 
   My mum found out about a kapa haka group that started at our marae,(Tumutumuwhenua), in Orakei. When I found out, I wanted to go. But not alone, so I pulled my friend Kaycee into it. Ending up at kapa haka every Wednesday afternoon, I would get our waiata, (songs), stuck in my head for the rest of the night. It was annoying but it all paid off. why? Well because after weeks of practice we went down to Ngarawahia for Koroneihana.

   Koroneihana is a celebration for the Maori King. By the way Koroneihana means Coronation. After performing in front of everybody down there and watching other groups, my confidence in kapa haka gained a lot. And I mean A LOT!! It went from performing with my cousins from Orakei to being a Kaea at the age of 11 for our prize giving opening.

   Ever since prize giving  I've all ways wanted to be in kapa haka and plus my Te reo Maori has gained a lot to. I'm picking in Maori language a lot. When I grow up I would like to be a Kaea of an international Kapa Haka group. This is where my passion and love goes to.

Two Minor Shakes: Will there be More???

This is a little project Mrs Tele'a gave the extension class. It was to see if we could self manage it.

Sunday the 17th of March, a minor earthquake, (or two), hit parts of Auckland. It was all over the net in minutes. When it hit us at home, my mum ran straight under the doorways for cover. luckily it was only for about 3 seconds. Now our family is prepared properly for another.

 The earthquake was created by Rangitoto and Motutapu rubbing together. The magnitude was 3.1 for the first one and the second one was 3.9. This is no joke. First Christchurch now us. Better be ready.

10 Sentences

Gloria, Logan and I created these 10 sentences to describe a photo of a dog on a surfboard. We wrote from the dog's perspective. Chucky the dog and Jay the owner.

 1). "You ready, Chucky?" my owner (Jay) asks me, carefully putting me on the surfboard.

2).Bright and early, with my ridiculous outfit on, Jay pushes me off to sea.

3). On top of the surfboard, I shiver with horror.

4). Miraculously, I glided along the cool blue waves.

5). Without knowing, a wave crashes on top of me.

6). Floating on the water, I shake my fake mane of a lion.

7). Flinging the water from my wet suit, I paddle back to shore.

8). Wet and soaking, I shudder as Jay squeezes me with joy.

9). "GREAT JOB!" he cheers.

10). A couple of weeks later, I find myself staring on a commercial.

The Year 6 Girls and Tyla

For the past week, our extension group has been looking at water around the world. When I say around the world I mean East Timor and Africa. We created a movie of what goes on in your body. We learnt about what happens to a healthy body and an unhealthy body.

The group I was in was with Litia, Brooklyn, Vivienne, Chante and me. We made this little movie so we know what happens with your digestive system.

If I was to rate our group out of 10 I would give us an 8. I give us an 8 because it wasn't perfect but it was pretty good and had a little humor in it. What would you give us?

The bit of the movie is not a very nice looking part but I was cool with it. Even though I had to to the person going to the toilet I still enjoyed creating it.

I Am Making Movies 2 Entry

Here is a movie created by Kaycee, Jonita,Calvin and me with the help of our extension teacher and some year six's to give us some tips. This movie was an entry for the I am Making Movies 2 competition. The movie is about three kids who were meant to go to kapa haka practice but they go to the musem instead. When they go the musem they learn more about there culture. Hope you enjoy our movie.

Archimedes Inventions

Some scientist mathematicians in the ancient world were not as good as Archimedes. Who is Archimedes you are probably wondering? Archimedes is a man who invented many things in his ancient Greek days. People in the ancient world looked up to him as the master and the wise one. No-one forgot him in those days. Archimedes was the last mathematicians.

Archimedes was born at 287 B.C. in Syracuse Sicily. He interested in inventing from his dad Phidias. sometimes he so busy that he would forget to eat.

Archimedes invented a ship shaking device called the Claw. He invented it in 214 B.C.. The Claw was invented to ward off attacking Roman ships. The claw was made by 2 poles, a pulley system and a large hook.

His inventions are not like the inventions today. That is Archimedes and how he grew up.

20 Hour Famine At school

(This is from my friend Porscha and me who were experiencing this.)


Tonight is the night of the 20 hour famine. The 20 hour famine is to help us realise what children from East Timor are going through. We are also doing a fundraiser so the kids in East Timor can get some food.

I'm giving up talking and food. My friend Porscha is giving up food. Some of the kids are doing it as well. To fundraise ,we get a 20 hour famine booklet where you ask your family to sponsor you.


The only things that we can eat are Barley sugar and drink just juice. The most favorite thing is that we get to stay up until 11:30
